Currently we have 14 students for SBS. We are so humbled by how God is using us and so excited for what He is going to do in the lives of these students as they spend this next season exploring God's word and receiving the revelation and understanding of who God is and who they are in Him.
We will be heading east to Deleware to be with Rachael's family for Christmas and we will be able to see Scott's family in upstate New York for a few days as well and then returning to Colorado and starting the school on January 6. It's almost here!!!
The most common theme that keeps coming up is that this is God's school this is encouraging and humbling. Encouraging in that this school is in God's hands and not ours. It's for His glory. Humbling in that we are called by God to be part of His redemptive story in people's lives and in the nations. 1st Corinthians 3:5-9 says,
5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.
The context behind this passage is that Paul is addressing the believers of Corinth who are divided over alligning themselves with different ministers of gospel because that was common in this culture. People would say I follow this teacher or this philosopher and this is what is happening in the church with people following Paul or Apollos and the focus being taken off of God. Paul is telling them, that it is in God that you will grow, not us, you belong to God, not us. Paul continually directs the people to God. Paul could have taken all the credit for his work among the Corinthians but he refused to and walked in humility, so that the people's focus would be a God centered focus and out of that would come unity.
We all have a part to play in God's story, but ultimately it is all in God's hands. It is His story, not ours. This SBS is God's and that is so encouraging as we embark on this excitng journey as we partner with Him, and we are expectant of what God is going to do in and through the students.
God Bless,
Scott and Rach
