Cambodia Adventure Continued!

There are so many things about Cambodia that Scott and I have come to love and are learning that we are truly going to miss it when we leave here in a few days.  The people are always what make a place home and we have seen through the loving people here that Cambodia has become home in many ways to us both.

SERVING BESIDE THE LONG TERM
MISSIONARIES IN CAMBODIA

We have been living with some of the long term missionaries here in Cambodia, Mark and Ashley Smith and their two amazing children (http://post28.wordpress.com/).  We have been honored to really see life through their eyes and how to live in Cambodia with a family while serving in ministry.  They have welcomed us with open arms into their everyday life.  Including Thanksgiving and decorating for Christmas!

Scott and the Smith Family putting the Christmas tree together!

Us all decorating the tree together!

Scott and I have had so much opportunity to serve in various ways!  Scott has worked on a few different projects for the long term workers here.  We have learned that everything takes longer here.  Building a bookshelf or anything is a process and a labor of love.  So it was such a huge blessing for Scott to be able to serve with his other gifts of building.

SLUM MINISTRY IN CAMBODIA

I was also able to go to one of the slum areas that they serve at every week.  Here are a few picture of my time there.  What an amazing time of seeing the smiling faces of kids and how lives are changed through the love and care of individuals.

I was so blessed to walk these streets where so many families live and where I was able to laughing children.

PRAYERS
  • We leave to Thailand next week and then back to the US on Dec. 6.  For a safe and restful rest of the trip.

Life In Cambodia!!

Hey Everyone! We hope that you are all doing well. We have been in Cambodia for about 10 days now and we are loving every second of it! It is such a blessing to be with some of our best friends that we formed relationships with in Montana who live here and are part of such an amazing ministry in this country. We are loving being able to form new relationships with many other people, especially Cambodians that range from our tuk tuk driver to the amazing guys who translate when we teach and the incredible Khmer and Western students that we are blessed to get to know.
We arrived in Siem Reap and spent 3 days recovering  from the 24 hour journey that it took to get to the other side of the world. We spent those 3 days fighting jet lag, touring Angkor Wat, one of the world's largest temple complexes, and studying too:)

                          I'm On A Boat!!

After our time in Siem Reap we traveled north via an "adventurous" taxi ride to Battambang to be with our friends Mark and Ashley and their son Trey and daughter Tru, our friend Luke, and lots of new Khmer friends. So we have been in Battambang for 1 week and it has been great. Rachael taught the book of Romans in the SBS(School of Biblical Studies) and Scott taught from the book of Acts at a community meeting.

Rachael teaching the book of Romans

17 Students hungry for the Word of God

Scott teaching at a community meeting

This week Rachael will be teaching the book of 1st Corinthians in the SBS and Scott will be working on some maintenance and construction projects around the campus. We are so excited to serve the people of Cambodia through the giftings that the Lord has given us.

Prayer Requests:

Health and safety as we work and travel

Rachael has been struggling with migraines on a regular basis

A reliable vehicle when we return to Colorado Springs

An affordable house to rent in Colorado Springs. We would love to have a house so that we can host friends, family, guests, and students and provide a place of rest and relaxation and minister to them as well.

Currently we are seeking to raise our financial support level in order to afford the rental of a house and purchase a vehicle, and also a computer for Scott. Right now we are sharing the same computer for work and purchasing another will be very helpful and is necessary for our ministry.

We are looking for
30 new partners who would pledge $30 a month.
This is a tax deductible donation that can be made through check or automatic withdrawl.

If any of you would like to discuss our needs and ministry and how you can be involved or would just like to catch up or even if you have prayer requests, please do not hesitate to contact us!

God bless,
Scott and Rach

MONTANA

  • We were blessed to be in Montana with our entire staff team from SBS Colorado Springs.  We did 1 week of debriefing of the school we ran which was to help us process through the year and school in order to really help us evaluate the year and make the school better as we proceed in pioneering.
  • We also were able to visit with friends and family (Scott's brother and his wife along with their beautiful daughter Ella).
  • It was a great 2 weeks!
The Beautiful vies of Montana that we miss so much!

 Celebrating with our wonderful staff!

Scott with our niece that we adore, Ella!

Traveling Prayers:

  • A Reliable Car:  Please keep praying with us as we need a new car soon!
  • For grace in travels as we are going to be living out of a suitcase for 3 months:)  And that God would continue to reveal himself as we teach and do different projects to serve the mission.

LAST FEW WEEKS OF SBS

CAMPING

Scott and I were so blessed to borrow a car to go camping the week before SBS ended.  I have to say that I have never enjoyed the campfire and smores more than I did this weekend!  We also were able to go hiking and just enjoy being away for a day before SBS ended!  Here are some pictures of our time.
Our lovely tent we have not utilized nearly as much as we should have!

This is the S. Platte River we were camping by

TEACHING
Scott and I both ended the year in full force teaching.  He did an incredible job teaching Exra and Nehemiah!  And I finished teaching the quarter with Ezekiel, Esther, and Matthew.  We both were just reflecting on our time of teaching this quarter and we were just blown away how God has met us as we have studied to teach these books.   We are blessed with such an incredible job!

Scott doing some interactive learning in Nehemiah and having the class build the wall of Jerusalem!
Finishing strong with some great points on Nehemiah's Character!
Rachael teaching about the Kingdom of God in Matthew
Finishing the year teaching how to teach the Inductive Method

LAST WEEK OF SBS
Please continue to pray for us as we finish the year up!  Pray for the students as they finish the last book and do their final assignments.  We graduate this next Thursday!  We will post picture of everything soon!

PRAYER REQUESTS
  • Travels:
    • We have a lot of traveling ahead this Fall with support raising and visiting family and friends.  We will be in MT, ID, OR, WA, DE, and NY all before Jan.  Not to mention Cambodia and Thailand.
    • With all that travel we really need provision to be able to go to all these places!
    • We still need some finances to teach in Cambodia and to teach in Thailand.
  • Car:  Please pray with us for a reliable car that would make it possible for us to visit some of these places as well as have the means to get around in Colorado Springs and feel safe.
  • That this break would be refreshing and that God would continue to give us new vision for what He has.
We love you all and are so grateful for your investment into our lives and this school!

3rd Quarter!

We are half way finished with the 3rd Quarter already!
We are in the middle of studying the prophets.  We can't believe that this school is almost over.

We have been honored with amazing guest speakers this Quarter!  Here is a little recap:
We have had Mark and Dawn Masucci who are with SBS International come and teach (Kings, Chronicles, Joel, Jonah, Nahum, and Hosea-2 weeks of teaching).  They have been such incredible blessings to us in developing this school in Colorado Springs.
Mark Smith who is working with the SBS in Cambodia visited with his brother-in-law Jordan.  He taught Song of Songs and Ecclesiastes.  It was amazing to hear his insight and understanding as he taught these books.
Judy Smith, the founder of SBS comes next week to teach Jeremiah and Lamentations for us!  We are excited to once again glean from her understanding of God's word!
As for Scott and I we are busy finishing our last teachings for the quarter.  Scott teaches Ezra and Nehemiah.  I (Rachael) teach Ezekiel, Esther, and Matthew this quarter.  We are excited for what God is going to teach us through these books too!

I was blessed this last weekend to go and see my handsome new Nephew, Silas Caleb Robinson in Delaware.

What's Next:
Please pray for the rest of this quarter for our staff and students to finish strong!

After the SBS we are traveling to raise support and visit friends and supporters.
Our Tentative Schedule looks like this.  So if you are in any of these areas we would love to come and say hi!
These dates are bound to change but are more approximations of where we will be and when.
  • Montana (September 26-October 9) We are doing debriefing with our staff in MT for the first week and half and then will visit family and friends.
  • Idaho (October 10-28)  We will be visiting friends and family
  • Oregon/Washington (October 28-November 4)  We will be visiting friends and family
  • Cambodia/Thailand (November 5-December 5) We will be teaching in the SBS in Cambodia
  • New York/Delaware (December 6-January 7) We will spend Christmas with Scott's family and will also visit my family in Delaware.
If you are around and want to say hi please contact us we would love to see you!

Also please pray for finances!  Some of these trips are dependent on us being able to raise the funds to visit these specific places to see people and work on raising our support network.

GOD STORIES
Thank you everyone who has been praying for money for us to go and teach in Cambodia.  We were given about $700 to go towards this trip!  Please keep standing with us so we can go and bless Cambodia.

We love you all-The Frases

Summer Break & More

We are not that great at updating people about life sometimes.  It is our continual goal to be better at posting updates!  So here is a little update at what our lives have looked like the last month or so.

BETH AND CHRISTOPHER'S WEDDING

First my sister Beth got Married in Idaho June 5th.
She was a Beautiful Bride and we are so excited for her and her new husband Christopher!

THE SCHOOL OF BIBLICAL STUDIES

The students just finished their Second Quarter!  We started the Old Testament and are working through the historical books of the Bible.  Next week we start the Third Quarter and are expectant of what God is going to be doing in the school.

We will update you soon about what we are teaching and what this Quarter will look like in a few days.

SUMMER BREAK

So now we are on our Summer Break.  We stayed here in Colorado Springs.  Here are a few Pictures from Scott and I hiking a bit today!

We hiked up to these really beautiful falls.  It showed us first that we were really out of shape and also just a reminder of how beautiful creation is.  I then slipped and fell on a wet rock when it started raining.  Leave it to me:)

So what's after this SBS?

We have been invited to teach in the SBS in Cambodia this November.  We do not have the finances for this but really believe that God is asking us to step out and faith and go.

We have accepted 2 new staff for our upcoming SBS next year.  Our next SBS is also scheduled to start on March 17, 2012.  Staff Training will start the beginning of February!
My, how time flies.

How can you be praying for us:
  • Grace and Strength for staff and students to finish this next quarter strong
  • Wisdom
  • A reliable car!!!
  • Cambodia-We need about $3,000 for plane tickets and living expenses while we are there.
We are blessed by so many of you and really appreciate your prayers!  We would love to hear from you and if there is anything we can be praying for you, please let us know.

Outreach In Alabama, Beginning The Old Testament

Hey everyone! We just wanted to let you all know what we have been up to these last few weeks and what is on the horizon!
Scott just returned from an outreach in Alabama. He was down there for a week with his friends that he used to work with in Montana; David, Micah, Toast(that's right a guy named Toast), Rudy and Caleb converting a barn into housing for a ministry that focuses on showing the love of Jesus to nomadic people, by sharing the gospel, feeding them, and discipling them.
The purpose of this barn and property is to be able to have a place where nomadic people can rest and be ministered to. The guys were so blessed to be able to partner with the ministries and people involved in this.
It definitely was an exciting time, especially because Scott and the guys were in the path of the storms and tornado that devastated Alabama last week, but everyone remained safe and no damage was done to the barn they were working on. Another great thing was the abundance of BBQ and sweet tea, which the guys got their fair share of.
Below are the links for the ministries we worked with; The Nomads Land, Lone Sheep Ministries, and Kingdom Promotions. Please take the time to check out their sites.

Micah, Toast, and Rudy Framing the Pantry and Kitchen

                                     Old Friends and New Friends

So Scott, returned from Alabama and taught 2 and 3 John the next day and that concluded the New Testament and now Rachael is teaching Genesis. Scott will be teaching Deuteronomy in a few weeks.
We are continually humbled and in amazement of the things that God has us doing, how God has us partner with Him in what He is doing on the earth and in the lives of those around us. We are blessed.

God bless you all!
Scott and Rach
